Terminal app themes, rendering speed, the minimal footer and the terminal tab title.
This page covers the theme, the redraw rate, the footer mode and the tab title of the terminal app. The desktop app and the UI kit have their own themes: desktop appearance, UI kit theming.
Themes#
Settings › UI › Theme switches the theme right away. Enter cycles through the themes. The setup wizard also offers the theme. The default is default.

Light, Catppuccin Latte and Gruvbox Light suit light terminals. The other themes are dark. zidane does not detect the background color of your terminal.
Extensions add themes with registerTheme (extensions). Their themes show after the built-in ones. If an extension theme uses the id of a built-in theme, the built-in theme wins. The frames on these pages show the Default theme mapped onto this site's light or dark palette.
Rendering#

Terminal tab title#
When Terminal title is not Off, zidane saves the tab title it found. It restores that title when you quit or set Terminal title back to Off. Some terminals cannot save a title, for example the VS Code terminal. There, zidane clears the title instead. zidane writes no title when the output is not a terminal.
